Every story has a beginning.
For Cragun’s, it began in 1940.
It continued through generations of families who returned year after year, creating traditions that became part of who they were.
It grew through new golf courses, expanding shorelines, neighboring resorts becoming part of the Cragun’s family, and friendships that somehow always picked up right where they left off each summer. Now, another chapter has been written.
Not because the story is finished.
But because it’s ready for the next generation to write their own.
More Than New Buildings
It’s easy to look around the resort today and notice what’s changed.
The welcoming lobby filled with natural light. The warmth of Lakehouse Bar + Kitchen. The aroma of fresh coffee from Grind on Gull. The South Beach Cabins standing proudly along a shoreline that has welcomed vacationers for generations.
But the true measure of this transformation won’t be found in architecture.
It will be measured years from now. When today’s children bring their own families back to Gull Lake. When another golf group celebrates its twentieth annual trip.
When someone walks into the lobby and says,
“This feels just like I remember… only better.”
That’s success.
A Promise to the Future
Every person you’ve met throughout this series shared something in common.
Dutch Cragun.
Jamie Tatge.
Travis Miller.
Sara Raimann.
Mike Gohman.
The hundreds of craftsmen. The employees who welcomed guests every day during construction. None of them were simply building for today. They were building for families they may never meet. Children whose names they’ll never know. Couples who haven’t yet celebrated their anniversary here.
Friends who haven’t planned their first golf trip. Grandparents who will someday point across the lake and tell stories that haven’t happened yet. That’s the remarkable thing about places like Cragun’s. The people who care for them understand that they’re never really building for themselves. They’re building for everyone who comes next.
The Best Traditions Haven’t Happened Yet
Somewhere this summer…
A child will catch their first fish. Someone will say “yes.” A family will discover the cabin they’ll request every year from now on. Friends will laugh a little too loudly around a bonfire.
Someone will stay up just long enough to watch the stars appear over Gull Lake. Someone else will wake before sunrise just to enjoy one quiet cup of coffee before the rest of the family stirs.
None of those moments can be planned. That’s what makes them special. They’re the stories people tell on the drive home. The ones they remember long after the suitcases have been unpacked.
The ones that quietly become tradition.

You’re part of this story. Always have been. Always will be. Thank you for your patience during our transformation. Thank you for believing in the vision. Thank you for continuing to make Cragun’s part of your family’s traditions.
The buildings may have changed. The views are just as breathtaking. The sunsets are just as unforgettable. The laughter still echoes across Gull Lake. And the feeling of coming home…
That hasn’t changed at all.
Here’s to the Next Chapter
As we look across Gull Lake today, we’re filled with gratitude.
Gratitude for the generations who built this legacy. Gratitude for the people who helped preserve it. And gratitude for the families who will continue writing its story for decades to come.
Because while this chapter may be complete… The story of Cragun’s is far from over. In many ways… It’s just getting started.
