The Dutch 27 Golf Course at Cragun’s Resort is a picturesque and challenging course nestled in the stunning surroundings of Brainerd, Minnesota. This meticulously designed course offers a blend of natural beauty and strategic layout, providing an unforgettable golfing experience.

Designed by PGA TOUR Pro and Minnesota native, Tom Lehman, the Dutch 27 renovation was complete in spring 2025. The Dutch 27 will have 3 unique 18 hole combinations on the Red, White & Blue courses.

Dutch Red 9

The Red 9 is the most playable nine on the Dutch course allowing you to get off to a great start or finish to your round.

Hit your drive in the middle and watch your ball take the speed slot down the hill. Players will then have to make a decision to go for the heavily guarded green in two shots. The bunkers surrounding the greens are very deep creating a very demanding approach shot.

A huge landing area to this uphill then downhill long Par 5. You will need to get the right yardage on your layup to make sure you have a wedge in your hand for the approach. The green runs hard from back to front allowing you to hit a very close approach and walk away with birdie.

This very short par 3 offers a beautiful view of the clubhouse and surrounding golf course. The teeing area is spread out 180 degrees around the hole offering many different angles each day. Make sure to hit this green guarded by water and bunker and you will impress the crowd watching you on the Legacy deck.

Dutch Blue 9

The Blue 9 is the most challenging on the Dutch course with some strategy needed to navigate the course as you make your way around Stephens lake.

One of the longest par 4’s on the course but offers a very large landing area off the tee. The second shot plays downhill with the left side of the green guarded by a deep bunker. Make sure to check the pin placement on this very spacious green offering a few different tiers to tuck pins.

Another par 5 where you must trust your line with the fairway hidden off the tee. The landing area is very spacious with two fairway bunkers protecting the right side of the fairway. After a solid tee ball, you will have the option to go for it in two over the marsh or layup. The layup is very well marked with a large oak tree marking exactly where to hit. With a wedge in hand, you can fire away at the pin and hopefully have another nice birdie opportunity.

This uphill par 3 always plays one to two clubs longer into the wind. The entire front side of the green is protected by bunkers so don’t be afraid to go long here. The green slopes back to front so the green will catch a longer shot and give you a chance to make a low stress par.

For most players this is not a driver off the tee with two strategically placed bunkers pinching at the end of the fairway. Playing short of the bunker will give you 150 yards into a very large three tiered green.

Dutch White 9

The White 9 starts out strong with some longer, beautiful Par 4’s but allows you some easier birdie holes with a 5-3-5 finish near the clubhouse.

On your approach take note the green surround bounces left to right and the green runs away from the fairway. Hitting a high approach with spin will give you a great chance of holding the green and making a good score.

This beautiful par 5 is perfect way to cap off your day. The fairway if protected by two very large bunkers up the right side. After avoiding those you will have to decide if you can carry the large pond protecting the green. This shot will be almost all carry with just a little room to run a shot up the small opening in front of the green. If you decide to layup you will need to stay short of the pond and the fairway bunker. Prepare yourself to finish in front of a crowd with the Legacy deck overlooking this green complex.

It’s time to finish out your round with a flurry of birdies with this very reachable par 5. A generous landing area should allow for a fairway finder. Your second shot plays a little uphill so you will need to plan on hitting an extra club. A risk reward shot at its finest with the green heavily guarded by bunkers. The green plays relatively flat allowing for a great birdie or better chance.

Dutch White #8, Par 3

One of the shortest par 3’s on the property playing 120 yards or less. Pick the right club based off the wind and fire away. Par or better is almost a guarantee.

Dutch White #9, Par 5
